Irene Ausdemore, age 91 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with the Rev. Michael Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton. The family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, at church, one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Irene's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be the great grandchildren.

Irene Rose Ausdemore was born on May 30, 1918 in Crofton to Benedict and Louise (Wuestewald) Hegge. She grew up in Crofton and married William J. "Bill" Ausdemore on February 15, 1938 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance, NE. She and Bill lived on a farm 3 miles south of Crofton on the county line. Bill died on April 12, 1968 at the age of 62 years. She married Severin Hoebelheinrich in 1983 and he died on November 25, 1997. Irene worked as the lunch room manager and head baker for the Crofton Public School for 23 years. Irene was a caregiver for Theadore and Anna Ausdemore for many years until their deaths.

Irene was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, its Ladies Guild, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, and numerous card clubs. Irene quilted, embroidered, did cross stitch, loved playing Sheep Head, loved baking cinnamon rolls for her family and her school kids. She bowled until her early 80's and was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children of Benedict and Louise Hegge.

Irene is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Wilfred and Virjean Ausdemore of Trinity, Florida; Don and Arlyce Ausdemore of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; David and Darlene Ausdemore of Valentine, NE; Evelyn and Rodney Hennings of Crofton; Lois Ann and Burl Mormann of Crofton; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 5 step-children and their families, Kay, Ron, DelRae, JoAnn, and Roger Hoebelheinrich; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Bill Ausdemore and Severin Hoebelheinrich; daughter Marilyn Ausdemore; granddaughter Michelle Ausdemore; great grandson Jude Redding; 4 brothers, and 8 sisters.
