Obit in The Anthon Herald, 5 June 1929, page 1: Duncan Devalsin Malcom was born at Hanover, Michigan, April 9, 1849, moved with his parents to Montour, Iowa, in 1852, where he resided until 1864, spending the next three years in Montana and Utah, returning to Avoca, Iowa, in 1867. He was united in marriage on December 22, 1872, to Eliza A. Palmer of Avoca, Iowa. To this union eleven children were born: Melvin E. of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Edgar C. of Paullina, Iowa; Sarah L. of Howard Lake, Minnesota; Irvin H. of Anthon; Robert F., Albert E., Mabel J., Mae L., Loyal E., all of Moville; Opal A. of Kingsley and Ida and Iva, who passed on at the age of six years. In the spring of 1882 he moved with his family to a farm near Anthon, Woodbury Co., Iowa. They have since resided in the vicinity of this farm until they moved to Moville a few years ago. He was a member of the Anthon Methodist Church. He died at his home in Moville on May 30, 1929, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 21 days. Mr. and Mrs. Malcom were married 57 years ago last December. The funeral was held at the Moville Federated Church on Sunday, June 2, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. B.W. Riner officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery, Piero. The children were all present at the funeral and burial services.
