Rev. George R. Groninger was a son of William E and Minnie Belle (Hench) Groninger. He was born November 18, 1895 and died June 11, 1978. He married Marian Irene Zimmerman. George Groninger graduated from Port Royal High School in 1914, taught school three years. Entering the college at Susquehanna Lutheran University, graduated with A.B. degree in 1922; and from the Theological Seminary there in 1925. On June 12, 1924 he was licensed to preach, at Sunbury; and, at Jersey Shore, PA., May 21, 1925, was ordained to the full work of the gospel ministry in the Lutheran Church. On August 1, 1925 he became pastor of the Lutheran churches at Potts Grove and Follmer, PA.
