Son of Rev. John Huse Bobbitt (1817-1892) and Catherine Goble (1816-1900). His known siblings include: William (1836-1887), Nancy (1837-1838), Absalom (1839-1865), John H. (1841-1918), Elizabeth (1843-1875), Sarah (1848-1880), Irvin Henry (1850-1923), Henry Logan (1852-1930), James A. (1854-1915), Catharine (1856-1931), Nancy Caroline (1858-1912), and Mary Ellen (1862-1912).

Bobbitt enlisted in Co. A, 38th Indiana Infantry on Sept. 17, 1861. He died in a "General Hospital" in Perryville, KY on Oct. 11, 1862 of a gunshot wound through the neck received in action at the Battle of Perryville on Oct. 8, 1862. Leander Free and William White, both from Co. A, informed Harrison's parents of his death when they were home on furlough shortly after the battle. His mother Catherine applied for a federal pension on Nov. 14, 1889 (app. #408,572 cert. #417,937 - Indiana). His parents are buried in Williams Cemetery, Eckerty, Crawford Co., IN. Harrison's body was never brought home to Indiana - it was originally buried in the old National Cemetery on the Perryville battlefield but most of those remains were later reinterred at Camp Nelson Nat'l Cemetery.
