Betty B. Griffith, 89
Betty Bloomquist Griffith, 89, formerly of Hudson and Sarasota, Florida and most currently from Golden Valley, Minnesota passed away on September 17, 2009, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Golden Valley.

She was born to Earl A. and Lois (Wisner) Bloomquist on December 25, 1919, in Eldora, Iowa. After graduating in 1937 from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Betty attended Mills College in Oakland, California, the Minneapolis School of Business and then graduated from the University of Minnesota.

Betty married John M. Griffith on February 20, 1943, in a private military ceremony at Miami Beach Baptist Church. They were blessed with two children born in 1945 and 1949.

In 1950 Betty and John started Empirehouse, their own business, where Betty enjoyed all aspects of building and growing a business. Fifty-nine years later, Empirehouse is now one of the leading glazing contractors in the Midwest. Upon retirement she enjoyed traveling to Belgium with the Hudson Garden Club, playing tennis, spending her winters in Sarasota and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Betty is survived by her two children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 2PM on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Afton, Minnesota. Visitation was one hour before the service.

The family suggests memorials for Betty to the American Diabetes Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Alpha Phi International Fraternity.
