First Lieutenant Ingold was the pilot of U.S. Army
Air Corps B-29 Superfortress #42-6417.
He was killed when the bomber crashed one mile
southeast of Lorraine, Kansas.

Five other airmen also perished.

He was serving with the 879th Bomb Squadron,
499th Bomb Group at Smoky Hill Army Airfield,
Salina, Kansas.

Also killed were:

2nd Lt. Richard G Creain
2nd Lt. Crawford C Hoffpauir
2nd Lt. Walter L Pfeffer
2nd Lt. Charles L Zeiss
Cpl. George E Sullivan
