Andrew Jackson Tippitt died in his home in Niantic Sunday, May 5, at 11:30 a.m., after an illness of one year. He was born November 10, 1857, near Chapin, Ill., and was married at Chapin, Nov. 14, 1878 to Martha Ellen Chapman. One son and two daughters were born to them. Luella died August 8,1884. Mrs. Anna Lee Edwards, April 11,1902, Charles Henry Tippitt, Jan. 25, 1906.
There are four grandchildren; Lee Edwards, Frank, Carl and Eugene Jackson Tippitt. He also leaves two brothers, Hiram Tippitt of Bluffs, A. M. Tippitt of Niantic, two sisters, Mrs. Angeline Evans of Baylis, Ill, Mrs. Elizabeth Langbary of Chapin, one half-sister and two half-brothers, Mrs. Nancy Hickeson, Charles and Alfred Johnson, of Decatur.
The funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Niantic Methodist church, Rev. J.C. Brown, officiating. There will be a brief preliminary service at the home. Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery.
Among those from a distance to attend the funeral are: Mrs. Angie Evans, sister of Baylis, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Amy Tippitt and sons of Decatur, Hiram Tippit, brother of Bluffs, Ill., Mrs. Edward Fossett, James Welch of Springfield, Mrs. Rose Evans of Jacksonville.
