Photographer. Penn began his photographer career in the 1940's with Vogue Magazine. His career took him from Fashion Models to Aborigine tribesmen in their natural settings. From 1964 to 1971 he photographed seven different projects ranging from New Guinea mud men to San Francisco hippies. In the 1950's Penn started to explore portraiture of not only famous actors, musicians and politicians, but of ordinary people around the world. Some of his most famous portrates were of Miles Davis, Spencer Tracy, Georgia O'Keeffe and Pablo Picasso. His favorite subject to photograph was of his model wife Lisa Fonssagrives.
