Annette Jobe King, 89, passed away in Glenwood Springs, Colo., June 30, 2008, having celebrated her 89th birthday with family and friends the week before. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 2, in Ft. Collins, Colo. A memorial service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., July 8th, at First Baptist Church in Clifton.

She was born in Dunlap, Iowa, to the late Woodrow and Grace Jobe. At the age of one, she moved with her family to Fort Collins, Colo., where she lived for 30 years. She never lost her love for Colorado. In fact, just last August, 2007, she attended her 70th high school reunion in Ft. Collins. (she never missed a high school reunion during the 70 years).

She originally was married to Johnny Geer whom she met in Ft. Collins. He served in World War II and was killed in action. After the war she met Harold King. On Feb.11, 1949, the couple were married in Fort Collins and they subsequently moved to Texas. After living in several other towns in Texas, they settled in Clifton, were she has resided for the last 40 years. She was always very active in her church and loved to sing in the choir. She loved life and always greeted you with a wonderful smile. She was always a friend to the children and especially loved to attend the children's programs at the church or at school. She was a genuinely kind person to everyone and was always interested in whatever "you" were doing.

She loved to travel, and with her husband, Harold, they traveled for years to the annual Air Force Reunions held all over the U.S. There was also the annual visit to Estes Park, Colo., the favorite (she only missed this trip once in 89 years). She continued to travel alone, meeting up with her daughter, Sue and her family, until just a few months ago. She never wanted to miss out on anything, and rarely did. She was always the first to sign up for the Conservatory events, concerts, plays, or any other Church or Community event.

Because of her love for cats and dogs, she was a supporter of BARK, the animal rescue organization. She loved to be with her four cats at home. It seemed all the other cats in the neighborhood or strays knew they could get a good meal and lots of love at her house too.

She survived by her daughter, Charlotte Sue King Sharpe and husband, Peter, of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and grandson, Jeffrey C. Sharpe; of Los Angeles, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold King.
