Funeral services for Joe Tallman were held Sunday, January 29 at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Ernest Allen officiated and burial was in the Clarion Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Tallman, 77, died Thursday at the Clarion Memorial hospital. He was a long-time Clarion resident and had been a post office clerk here for 33 years.
Born at Pontiac, Ill. he was reared in Pennsylvania and Clarion. He had been a resident of Clarion since 1902. He and his wife, Lydia, were married March, 1908 by the Rev. William H. Spence.
Mr. Tallman taught a class in the Methodist Sunday School for 25 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of the Commandery, Knights Templars and Shrine. Both Mr. and Mrs. Tallman were 50 year members of the Order of Eastern Star and he was a 53 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph, who was killed in France in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Lydia; three children, Mrs. Don Allison of Clear Lake, Mrs. Leonard Lenze of Mason City, and Russell of Cardington, Ohio and six grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, John of Humboldt and Charles of St. Louis, Mo. and two sisters, Mrs. James Cripps of San Jose, Calif. and Mrs. Adrian Hart of Tempe, Arizona.
