Civil War, 2nd LT, Co K, 5th Vermont Volunteer Infantry. Died of wounds received at Savage Station VA.
Additional info from Michele Fitzgerald; Brownson was born March 17, 1843 at Richmond, Chittenden County, Vermont, the only son of Louise M Brownson and Thomas B Barber. His mother died shortly after his birth and his father died when he was four. When he was seven he lived with his grandparents, Eli Brownson and Polly Fay Brownson, in Williston, Vermont.
