FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT
MALLARD FOR G. G. SANDS, 91

George G. Sands, 91, the oldest resident of Mallard, died in his home Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Mallard Friday Oct. 1, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. R. R. Rings officiating. The burial was in the Rush Lake cemetery. The Foy Funeral home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
The pallbearers were D. O. Hartsock, Art Hahn, John Wagner, Roland Kerbs, Albert H. Steil.
G. Sands was born in Ironton, Wis. Jan. 7, 1857, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Sands. In 1902 he married Miss Rachel Della Fenster (sic) who survives him. Four children were born to this union. The couple lived in Mallard for many years where Mr. Sands was engaged in the hardware business. Mr. Sands was a resident of Mallard for 60 years and during that time he made many friends in this vicinity. He had been ill some time before his death but he never lost his cheerful manner.
Besides his wife, Mr. Sands is survived by four children, O. R. Sands of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Joseph Hughes of Carlsbad, Calif., Mrs. C. A. Larson of Ruthven and B. J. Sands of Burbank, Calif. Mr. Sands also leaves two brothers, Charles of Mallard and William of Spokane, Wash., five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Sands had many friends who mourn his death.
