Amasa served in Company K 1st Minnesota Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. Obit.(Winona Republican-Herald, 26 Feb 1908, page 2) Amasa was born March 3, 1839 at Kenebec Maine. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1865 and served 10 months. In 1867 he married Alvira Hubbel and had two children--Frank & Ina. He was twice elected as representative to the state Legislature. He died at Caledonia, Houston Co., Mn while visiting his daughter, Mrs. J. Eischen. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church in Ridgeway, Mn.
