Charles Talbert Burt, 85, of China Spring, passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Kindred Hospital in Arlington, Texas. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at First Baptist Church of China Spring with the Rev. Michael Copeland and the Rev. James Densman officiating. A Masonic burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.

Charles was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Charles A. and Charlcie Burt. He graduated from Waco High School in 1941. He retired from the VA Hospital after 34 years; Carter Landscape and the City of Waco Parks and Recreation. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Charles was a member of the Valley Mills Masonic Lodge and a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of China Spring.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalyn; his son, Charles Thomas Burt; brother, Eugene Burt; and sister, June Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Frances Burt; daughter, Elaine Densman and husband, James; step-daughters, Carolyn Jeffus, Kathy Gist and Glinda Scott; grandchildren, Sarah, Josh and wife, Cristy, and Mary Rachel Densman; and great-granddaughter, Hannah; sisters, Elsie Garrett and Sue Littlepage; and brothers, T.J. and Al Burt.
