William J. Paulson Jr. was the son of Ida May Gibbons and William J. Paulson who appeared together in the 1920 United States Census. By 1930, Ida was absent, but her mother had joined the household of William J. Paulson to assist in the care of her three grandchildren, Irene, William, and Marian. Sadly, these children became wards of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Irene told of her brother's loss of his will to live after their grandmother died in 1944. He died three years later, reportedly at Belchertown State Hospital.
