Leland "Lee" A. Wessman, 85, Pine River, formerly of Outing, died March 22, 2002, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River.

He was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Lampson, to Arthur F. and Esther (Lindberg) Wessman. He went to school in the Lampson area. He married Adeline Anderson in Dassel, on June 26, 1938. He was a Greyhound Bus driver for 30 years and logged four million miles. He lived most of his life in Minneapolis until he retired and moved to his Smokey Hollow Lake cabin near Outing. He was a Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center resident since December 2000.

Survivors include a son, Jerome Wessman, Outing; four grandchildren, two great grandsons; four brothers, Quentin Wessman, Minnetonka, Wendell Wessman, Mankato, Daryl Wessman, Dassel, and Elwood Wessman, Brainerd; and two sisters, Muriel Hanson, Billingham, Wash., LaVonne Lyons, New Port Richie, Fla.

His wife died earlier.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Outing with the Rev. Robert V. Alle officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Arrangements are with Northland Funeral Home in Pine River.
