Mrs. Betty Griffis Tucker, 59, died Sunday morning (July 23, 2006) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
She is a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She retired from BellSouth as an operator after 30 years of service. She was also a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
She is the daughter of the late John Henry Griffis and Inez Leggett Griffis. She is
preceded in death by a brother, J. H. Griffis, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, L. F. Tucker of Waycross; a son, Chris Tucker (wife Angela) of Douglas; two step-children, Brad Tucker (wife Kim) of Hazlehurst, and Kim Snow (husband Vince) of Quitman; 8 grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy Griffis (wife Johanna) of California, and Danny Griffis of Rocky Mount, NC; and a sister, Peggy Altman of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday (July 27, 2006) at Oakland Cemetery.
