Miss Josephine Throckmorton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Reed Throckmorton, died at their house three miles west of town, on Monday morning, June fifth, at 5:35. She was taken ill about eight weeks ago with typhoid fever and although she was very seriously ill from the first, yet it is believed she would have recovered had not other complications arisen. A few days prior to her death pneumonia developed and in her weakened condition, despite the untiring and most careful attention of nurse and physicians, proved fatal. Miss Throckmorton was past twenty-six years of age and was the youngest daughter of the family. Since her girlhood she had been an enthusiastic and earnest member of the Throckmorton Methodist Episcopal church. Her bright, happy and cheerful disposition endeared her to everyone. Throughout her long illness no word of complaint escaped her lips, though her frail body must have been weary beyond endurance. Instead, she endeavored to comfort the members of her family by assuring them that she would soon be well again. She was ever the sunshine of the home and this, Death's first intrusion into the family circle, has left the parents, brother and sisters heart-broken. Miss Throckmorton had for a time been a student in Waynesburg College and is remembered by her fellow students as one of the brightest of their associates. Beside her parents, two sisters, Miss Nannie Throckmorton and Mrs. J. B. Pollock, and one brother, Howard Throckmorton, survive her.
