Georgia Bloom Yocum passed away peacefully on September 29, 2009, in the presence of her daughters, Deanna Brentlinger and Yvonne Lee, and her granddaughter, Wendy Oswald. Georgia Yocum was born on June 24, 1911 in Addington, Oklahoma, the daughter of Herbert Newton Roberts and Lucy Howard Roberts. Her father was a telegraph operator, who worked at railroad depots. Ms. Yocum had two brothers and a sister, Herbert Francis "Sonny" Roberts, James William "Billy" Roberts and Virginia Blon Roberts, all of whom preceded her in death. Although she moved with her family frequently, Ms. Yocum lived much of her life in Nelagoney, Osage County, Oklahoma, and she attended Nelagoney High School. Georgia Yocum was married to Arnold H. Yocum on July 2, 1928 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Mr. Yocum was a general contractor who specialized in building churches. Mr. and Mrs. Yocum had four children, Dale Yocum in Iola, Kansas, Wanda Grimsley in Beatrice, Nebraska, Deanna Brentlinger in Gladewater, Texas and Yvonne Lee in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Ms. Yocum had nine grandchildren, Larry Yocum, Gary Yocum, Charles Grimsley, Cindy Grimsley, James Grimsley, Tammy Skaife, Tommy Payne, Wendy Oswald and Leigh Cantu; ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Arnold, built her a home in 1947 in Bethany, Oklahoma where she lived for over 50 years. Georgia Yocum was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold, her daughter, Wanda, son-in-law, Cliff Grimsley, grandsons, Larry Yocum and James Grimsley, nephew, Jim Roberts and grandson-in-law, Frederick Stanton II. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008. Ms. Yocum will be interred at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery. In closing, many thanks to the staff at Gran Gran's Place, Yukon, Oklahoma for the loving care of Georgia Yocum in her final year.
