Robert J. Bellner, age 84, of Maumee, died January 5, 2006, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Bob was born June 16, 1921, in Maumee to Henry and Mary (Kiefer) Bellner. He was employed as a carpenter for Comte Construction for 35 years until his retirement in 1984. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served during WWII. He was an avid fisherman and camper, and thoroughly enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local 248 for 50 years, a member of Maumee Eagles 2562, the Swanton Knights of Columbus and charter member of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret "Midge" Bellner; daughters, Marianne (James) Lutz, Patricia (Jack) Steel, Christine (Paul) Hamm, and Catherine Maine; son, Douglas (Sandi) Bellner; step-daughter, Becky Henderly; stepsons, Paul (Melanie) Calevro and James (Debbie) Calevro; brother, William Bellner; 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia; brothers, Paul and Fred and sister, Thelma Hart.
Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. A Scripture service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Services will begin with prayers in the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
