Harold William Vose passed away peacefully at his home on November 22, 2005.
Mr. Vose was born on Oct. 3, 1917, in Westford, Mass., to Almon and Martha Vose. He married Abby Ella Bly on April 27, 1946, in Waterford, Conn. Mr. Vose served in the U.S. Navy as a petty office, second class during World War II and later became an active member of the American Legion Post of Wallingford, Conn.
Mr. Vose worked as a carpenter for 35 years at the former American Cyanamid, now call Cytec, in Wallingford, Conn. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Wallingford for 47 years where he served as a trustee and deacon. He and his wife Abby co-founded "The Rose Arbor," which is an organization that serves shut-ins and the elderly. He also helped to start the Rose Arbor Scholarship for young people.
Mr. Vose leaves his wife of 60 years, Abby; three sons, William A. Vose, James G. Vose, both of St. Augustine, John T. and his wife, Jane Vose of Woods Hole, Mass., and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 at Craig Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Conrad and Bro. Gregg Fischer, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Vose's memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 110 Masters Dr., St. Augustine, FL 32084 or The Council on Aging Sunshine Center, 180 Marine St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
