Mrs. Mary Ella (Alexander) Cox, 77, of Newport died Tuesday, March 3, 2009. She was born Aug. 30, 1931 at Tuckerman, the daughter of the late Joe Thomas and Inez Ellen (Gray) Alexander.
Mrs. Cox was a retired waitress, having worked at the Jonesboro Country Club prior to retiring. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Lee Cox; one grand-daughter, Angie Pinkston; and two brothers, J. A. and Troy Alexander.
Mrs. Cox is survived by one son, Leon Lloyd and wife Kay of Jonesboro; one daughter, Sherry Pinkston and husband, Perry, of Tuckerman; two grandchildren, Gregg Pinkston and Brandy Lloyd; and four great-grandchildren, Seth, Noah, Sammy, and Kaitlyn.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at Gracelawn Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, from 5-7 p.m.
