Pearl Van Hecke, 85, of Merrill died Saturday September 29, 1973 at River Pines Nursing Home, Steven's Point.

She was born on August 8, 1888 in Dudley the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Henry
Dudley. She left Dudley at the age of 15 for Wheaton, IL she lived lived her sister and attended school. She attended Norther Illinois State Normal School at Dekalb, IL, in 1909. In 1911 she entered nursing. After graduation from Colonial Hospital at Geneva, IL she attended Columbia Hospital New York where she took public health nursing. She returned to Lincoln County to serve as Public Health Nurse in 1924.

On December 26, 1928 she married Max Van Hecke, he preceded her in death in December of 1963.

Mrs. Van Hecke was past president of 8th District State Nurses, and member Chapter AA, Merrill P.E.O.. In 1946 she was President of 10th district of Wisconsin Federation of Women's Club.

She was also State Chariman of Club Institutes for 3 years, member of the Lincoln County Historical Society, the State Historical Society, and a former member of the Library from 1938-1971. She was an honorary life member of the
Library Board.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday October 2nd, 1973 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Wallace Schumann officated and burial was at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.
