Services for May Belle Fortner were held May 16 at the Dean Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Currie officiating. Mrs. Fortner died in Hayti May 14, 1981, at the age of 74. She was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Wicker) Kirk and was born in Obion, Tenn., on Feb. 24, 1907.
She is survived by her husband, George of Caruthersville; a daughter, Maxine Glass; five sisters, Dorothy Renn of Michigan, Lucille Clory, Flossie Westbrook of Michigan, Elsie Matthews of Reeves, Tenn., and Ruth Johnson of Kentucky Lake; a brother, Thomas McMahan of Michigan; and 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are six sons, Gay Holloway, William Holloway of Louisiana, and Lonnie Cummings of Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Steve Cummings, David and Charles Harris, Gillian Bates, Tommy Lee, and Hershal Redden. Interment was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
