Abram W. "Abe" Martin, 83, of 2035 Main St., Narvon, died Saturday afternoon at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.

A retired farmer, he was a maintenance worker for the former B.Z. Mellinger Ford in New Holland, where he worked for 18 years, until 1981. He also had his own antique furniture refinishing business from 1940 until 1991.

He was a member of Churchtown United Methodist Church and the Beartown Rod and Gun Club.

He was an honorary and life time member and former chief of the Caernarvon Fire Company in Churchtown.

He was a former member of Blue Ball Lions Club and a charter member of the Willow Run Hunting Camp in Juniata County.

He was married to Marian Yohn Martin for 63 years on Dec. 25. Born in Churchtown, he was the son of the late Eli Z. and Laura Stauffer Martin.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, George E., husband of Brenda E. Clark Martin of Narvon; two daughters, Mildred M., wife of LeRoy B. Snader of New Holland; and Kathryn E., wife of Glenn L. Hostetter of Frankford, Del.; five granddaughters; five step-grand-
children; 3 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Myrtle, wife of John Northeimer of Narvon.
