He was the Brother of actor Don DeFore. On May 6, 1953, was one of several family members secretly brought in from Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a surprise for honoree Don DeFore on "This Is Your Life" (1952), hosted by Ralph Edwards: "This Is Your Life: Don DeFore" (1953). He and his brother Don DeFore were the only outside proprietors ever allowed by Walt Disney to operate an independent restaurant inside Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA. Don DeFore's Silver Banjo Restaurant was in Frontierland from 1957 to 1961. A veteran of World War II, he served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Army.
