SHELBYVILLE - Ruby R. (Walden) Sebright, 96, of Shelbyville, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 in Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services on Friday. Order of Eastern Star Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to The First Christian Church of Shelbyville, Shelby Memorial Hospital or Hawthorn Inn of Shelbyville Manor. Mrs. Sebright was born on March 12, 1908 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Del and Gertie Lowary Walden. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1925 and attended Eastern Illinois State Teacher's College. She taught for six years in the country schools of West Liberty and Boone and 32 years at Main Street School in Shelbyville. After retiring in 1974, she spent eight years in volunteer work at Moulton School in Shelbyville. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Shelbyville where she sang in the church choir for 63 years. She was an over 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 69 of Shelbyville. She was active with Special Olympics in Decatur and many other volunteer services. She married Bernus B. Battershell in 1930. He died in 1968. She married Theodore N. Mangner in 1979. He died in 1984. She married Fay Ellis Sebright on April 23, 1989. Surviving are her husband, Fay; step-sons, Terry Sebright and wife Gloria of Thomason, GA and David Sebright of Marshall; step-daughters, Winifred Castoro and husband James of Geneva and Susan Smith and husband Terry of Harvard; seven step-grandchildren; nieces, Marilyn Boyer and husband Bob of Bethany, Rosemarie Mickish and husband Bob of Rockwall, TX, and Sharon Roberts and husband Loren of Mt. Zion; nephew, Jim Wilson and wife Beverly of Shelbyville; great nieces and nephews, Ben Boyer and wife B.J. of Bethany, Ted Boyer of Bethany, Sally Binion and husband Royce of Ft. Wayne, IN, David Boyer and wife Sara of Sullivan, Marlene Mickish and husband Eric of San Antonio, TX, Steven Roberts and wife Crystal of Sullivan, Susan Wallis and husband Joe of Dalton City, Andy Wilson and wife Julie of Shelbyville and Adam Wilson and wife Abby of Tower Hill; and several loving great nieces and nephews and wonderful cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, James Battershell; two daughters, Betty and Barbara Battershell, step-son, Thomas Sebright; step-daughter-in-law, Patricia Sebright, sister, Blanche Wilson; and one great nephew. She was a pillar for her family and community and will be greatly missed. Obituary written by family members
