John Kunkle and Sarah Williams in the 1850 census have an 11 year old Michael Kunkle in their home. However, he was 10 years younger than the next older child, and Sarah is age 63 at this time, so Michael may have been a relative rather than a son. This Michael is thought to be the one who married Esther "Hetty" Hawk. Michael and Esther's son, Harry, signed a death certificate for Michael stating that Michael's father was Daniel Kunkle and his mother was a Kepple. John did in fact have a brother named Daniel whose 1st wife was Maria Elizabeth Kepple.
