H A MCCAFFREE FUNERAL MON. Funeral services for Howard A McCaffree, 75, who died at his home near Waverly Junction Friday morning were held at the Kaiser funeral home on Monday afternoon. The Rev Paul V Clements, pastor of the Janesville Methodist Church of which Mr McCaffree was a member, officiated. Burial was in the Waverly Junction Cemetery a short distance from where he was born and where he lived all his life. Mr McCaffree was born May 3 1875, son of William Hardin and Lovisa McCaffree, pioneer settlers of Bremer Co.. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and a student at University of IA for two and one-half years. He married Miss Nellie Lenz (should be Leuz) at her home in Iowa City Jan 1 1900. Shortly after their marriage they came to the old McCaffree farm and have lived there ever since. They were parents of three children, one of whom died in infancy. The others, Ralph, of Oskaloosa, and Mrs Ruth Zwanziger, Waverly Junction, and his wife survive. Mr McCaffree was president of the board of the Janesville Consolidated School for 25 years and was always active in school and educational matters. He was a pioneer in the raising of Duroc Jersey hogs and for years was a nationally known breeder of Durocs. He was always active in Farm Bureau and 4-H club work.
