Mary was deeply committed to her family and many friends. She never spoke an ill will of anyone, while always looking out for and going the extra mile for others.
She was born September 14, 1924 in St. George, Utah to Louis Romney and Alice Paxman Lund. She attended school in St. George, Southern California, Marysvale, and Panguitch, Utah, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, William G. "Bill" Bruhn. They married on May 22, 1941 on the Mormon Mesa, NV. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple, July 24, 1942. He preceded her in death March 30, 1985.
Mary was active in the community she loved and served as president of the Panguitch Literary Club, Homemakers, Questers, JC etts, and was a member of the World Affairs Club in Ogden.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she taught primary and Sunday school classes.
Mary leaves behind many loved ones will who all miss her deeply, including her daughters, Barbara B Dirks (Steve) and Debara B Towt (Kevin); grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth McBride (Terence) and William Stephen "Will" Dirks; and many nieces and nephews who were so special to her through out her life.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Fred; brothers, Louis Paxman Lund, Robert Charles Lund, Elma Lund Woodbury, Minnie Lund Davies, LaRae Lund Beutler; grandchildren, Sumer Michelle and Emily Chrystal Poulsen.
The family wishes to thank the Ogden Intermountain Health Care's Hospice Team for their phenomenal care given to mom over an extended period.
Each without exception, an angel amongst us. To Dawn Hamblin, Sandy Stark, John Zizumbo, Michael Meyer, Dr. John Wood and all who cared for her. We extend our deepest heart felt thanks and tremendous gratitude for taking such exceptional care of mom and us as well.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 200 North 400 East, where friends may call on Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
