Mortuary
M. A. Carson, a resident of Grand Island for the past 22 years, passed away at his home, 413 West 9th street, at 2 a.m. Monday following an extended illness. He had been failing in health for several years past but his condition did not become serious until last October.
Mr. Carson was born in Hancock county, Virginia, on Dec. 18, 1846, being aged 77 years at the time of his death. On Nov. 10, 1875, he was united in marriage with Miss Carrie Rosser, at Sutton, Neb. For a time Mr. and Mrs. Carson resided in Harvard, Neb., coming to Hall county to reside about 39 years ago. Twenty-two years ago they moved to Grand Island and have since resided here.
Besides his bereaved widow he is survived by four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Gertrude Fisher of Harvard, Mrs. Martha Barbee, Mrs. Pearl Kindig and Mrs. Laura Grein, all of Grand island, Ray, Guy and Ross Carson, all of this city, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Van Horn, of Marshalltown, Ia., and Mrs. Lou Elliott, of Long Beach, Cal., one brother, Cyres Carson, of North Platte, 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. J. Henry Stitt, of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will take place in the Grand Island cemetery.
