Aged Carrington Woman Succumbed to Pneumonia After Few Days' Illness - Funeral Friday.
Mrs. Sallie Martin, 76 years old, widow of the late Benton T. Martin, died of pneumonia at her home, one mile west of Carrington, Thursday morning at 9:00 o'clock. She became ill with influenza less than a week before the end, and the disease developed quickly into pneumonia. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon and burial was in the Carrington Cemetery. Mrs. Martin is survived by five children, namely: Mrs. McPherson, of Audrain county; Mrs. J. G. Duncan and Mrs. Jack Hubbard, near Millersburg; Benton V., at home, and Burnham, Mokane. Her maiden name was Barnes. She was married in 1866 to Mr. Martin. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two years ago. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Primitive Baptist church and was staunch in her adherernce to its tenets. She was faithful to her religion, an excellent wife and mother, good as a neighbor and kind to everyone. In the community where she lived she was universally loved and will be greatly missed. Her death brings sorrow to many besides the members of her family.
Sallie Barnes was born to Benjamin and Lucretia Simms Barnes. She married William B. Martin in about 1860. Together their children were:

Alpharetta (Alpha) Martin (1870-1886)
Willie Olga Martin Hubbard (1873-1921)
Frank Burnham Martin (1875-1942)
Benjamin V. Martin (1882-1946)
