JOHN ATWOOD SCOTT, 82, died February 6, 2007, at his home in Cordova. He had idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for five years. Having preached for churches in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, he moved to Memphis in 1961, where he preached at the Church of Christ at White Station on Colonial Road until 1972. He also taught at the Harding University Graduate School of Religion and had a private practice in marriage counseling. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Mary Joyce Forrester; three children, John, Jr., David Ray, and Emily Joyce; eight grandchildren; and his sister, Eugenia Fore of Rochester, NY. Services will be Friday, February 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ at White Station with burial in Memorial Park SouthWoods Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John and Jo Scott Scholarship Fund of the Harding University Graduate School of Religion on Cherry Road.
