ABBEVILLE……Margaret (Lucy) Hicks Fowler, a resident of Abbeville, died late Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2009, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville. She was 91.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the "Activities Fund" of the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility, 212 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and reared in Centreville, Alabama. She had lived in Abbeville since 1959. Mrs. Fowler was formerly employed by Hughes I.G.A. and also Searcy Veterinary Clinic both in Abbeville. She was of the United Methodist Faith. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Fowler, a daughter, Ellen Carol Fowler and a son-in-law, James H. Rukvina.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Margaret Fowler Rukvina, Dothan; a son, William B. Fowler and wife, Bonnie Fowler, Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Cathy Markley, Jim Smitherman, Tammy Orloff and husband, Greg Orloff, JoAnna Brazel and husband, Ed Brazel, and David Fowler and wife, Kelly Fowler; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Fowler and her family.
