John Gann the son of John & Catherine (Christ) Gann was born in 1806 in Dry Valley. He was an excellent farmer owning 400 acres of land in Nippenose township & as a citizen was much respected filling several township offices. In 1833 he married Adeline Cruse by whom he had 2 sons Alfred & William. His second wife was Rachel Kaufman to whom 9 children were born: Adeline, Catherine, Amelia, Mary & Jane (twins). Rachel, Matilda John & Peter. All but Peter grew to maturity.
