Daniel Stahly, who was born 75 years ago on a farm that in later years became the north-western section of Nappanee, died at his home a half mile north of that city at 9 o'clock Thursday night. Death was due to peritonitis, with which he was stricken four days before. The funeral was held Sunday, with a service at the First Mennonite church, Nappanee, at 2:30 o'clock, and burial at the Union Center cemetery. The Rev. E. S. Mullett, pastor of the church, had charge, assisted by the Rev, R. S. Burns of the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Stahly, who was the son of Henry and Magdalena Stahly, was born March 26, 1856. He was married to Sarah Smocker on Jan. 1, 1880. She died Dec. 18 ,1916, and on March 7, 1918, he married Mrs. Janetta Brown, who survives him. There are also a brother, Simon Stahly of Nappanee, and the following children: Harvey and Russell Stahly and Mrs. Bertha Kurtz, and Mrs. Dorothy Hoffer, all living near Nappanee, Roy Stahly of Ligonier, Mrs. Ida Fletcher of Goshen, and Mrs. Alma Albrecht of Tiskilwa, Ill.
