Eunice Ettie Brooks Hollingshaus, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Highland Care Center in Holladay, Utah, where she had been a patient for three and a half months. She resided at 2479 South Highland Drive (1200 East) in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.

The youngest of four children, she was born in Duran, New Mexico on December 2, 1914, to Zeb Willis Brooks and Lourena Eliza Simpson.

Eunice joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on September 26, 1935 and remained a faithful member throughout her life.

On September 2, 1937, she was married to Alfred Hollingshaus in the Salt Lake Temple and they shared 70 wonderful years together before his passing in 2007.

She is survived by three children: Carol (Gary) Webster, Jim (Rita) and Richard (Carolyn); nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, and three brothers.

Her life has been one of selfless service to others. Along with her husband, she was active in the Sugarhouse Lions Club where they made many friends. She was sought out for leadership positions in the PTA and spent several years registering voters and assisting in the polls.

She served in the MIA for many years, was both a Stake and Ward Relief Society President, and a faithful visiting teacher. She and her husband were guides on Temple Square and worked in the family history extraction program. Eunice especially loved spending time with her family and friends at the family cabin in Soapstone.

In keeping with Eunice's wishes, graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
