Mrs. Martha Tipton James, 81, formerly of Caruthersville died Nov. 29, 1992 at Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Ky. Born May 28, 1911 in Lake County, Tenn., she was the daughter of James and Annie Montgomery Tipton. She was a member of Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville and was involved with several civic organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed C. James, three brothers and a sister.
She is survived by one son, Ed C. James Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; One daugher, Annie Laurie Muckelroy of Mt. Sterling; Three brothers, Jack H. Tipton of Caruthersville, Henry Tipton of Memphis and Bill Tipton of Cape Girardeau; One sister, Annie Laurie Rather of Portageville; And six grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Dean Funeral Home chapel in Caruthersville, Ed C. Tipton Jr. officiating, with burial in Little Prairie Cemetery.
