Funeral services for Edward C. James of Caruthersville were held Thursday afternoon, Nov,5, at the Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Marvin Niblack of Senath, a former pastor, here officiating. He was 59.
Mr. James died suddenly Monday morning, November 6(3), at the family home, South Ward avenue.
Mr. James was born May 12, 1911 at Cottonwood Point, the son of Sadie Tipton James and the late James Lafayette James, and had lived all of his life in this area. He attended local public schools. During World War II he served in the Army. For a number of years he has operated a river barge rental service. He was a stockholder and member of the National Bank of Caruthersville.
He was united in marriage in Caruthersville in 1937 to Miss Martha Tipton, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Edward C. James Jr., Jackson, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Annie Laurie (Steven) Bennett, Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Mrs. Sadie James, Caruthersville; and two brothers, John L. James, Caruthersville, and Dr. David Charles James of Phoenix, Ariz. Also surviving are three grandchildren.
Interment was in Little Prairie Cemetery with the Dean Funeral Home in charge of services.
