Hamner's Company of Volunteers (later Co B); Appears on Muster Roll of Co B dated 13 May 1862 at Auburn AL as 1st Lieutenant; As 1st Lieutenant, is in command of Co B upon resignation of Capt Hamner; Signed numerous forms/requisitions at Columbus MS as company commander; Promoted to Captain to rank from 10 July 1862; WIA Corinth MS 3-5 Oct 1862; WIA seriously (shot in wrist) at Vicksburg MS and signed his parole in the field at Vicksburg MS on 9 July 1863 as Captain of Company B of the 37th AL Infantry CSA; Hospitalized at Enterprise MS on 18 Sep 1863; Resigned as Captain 28 Jan 1864 at Dalton GA due to wound from Vicksburg: "... gunshot wound of right wrist fractured radius and part of bone taken away..."; Resignation accepted by Special Order No. 23, A. & I.
