His wife wrote the words to "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" in 1920.
Son of Thomas Bridgewater and Elizabeth Roberts of Rutledge, Tennessee. He married Cordelia J. "Cordie" Whiteside who was born in North Carolina.

They were residents of Buncombe Co., North Carolina in 1900. A daughter, Florence F. Bridgewater, was born in November 1899 and died prior to 1910.

The couple lived near Hanceville, Cullman Co., Alabama, from 1909 to 1917 [1918], where Albert farmed. It is believed that Cordie produced the words to a hymn "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" during this time. The Bridgewaters left Hanceville around 1918.

When registering for the WWI draft, Samuel was described as medium height and build, with gray eyes and black hair.

They returned to Buncombe Co., North Carolina, where Albert died from the flu in Asheville. Cordelia died from influenza a few weeks later.

It was while ministering to her during her illness that he contract- ed pneumonia and was removed to an ASHEVILLE hospital where he died within a few days.
