Roger Dale Berberich, 52, rural Audubon, MN, died Sunday, May 22, 2005 at his residence after an extended battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Roger, the son of Fred and Delores Lessard Berberich, was born on September 14, 1952 in Red Lake Falls, MN. He grew up on a farm near Brooks, MN and attended elementary school there. After graduating from Oklee Plummer High School, Roger worked at Arctic Enterprise in Thief River Falls for 3 years. In 1972, he began employment for Land O' Lakes in Thief River Falls. After transferring to Detroit Lakes in 1976 he worked until retirement in 1992. Since that time he worked other jobs including several Charitable Gambling organizations, most recently The American Legion in Lake Park and The Cormorant Lakes Sportsman Club. In 1975, he married Deb Derosier and was blessed with 2 children (Dana and Lance). After divorcing, Roger married JoAnn Ryder Bien in 1983. Along with JoAnn, Roger added two stepchildren to his family. Roger and JoAnn were themselves blessed with Jeremy, Charles and Matthew. Roger was a member of The Cormorant Lakes Sportsman Club, The Eagles Club in Detroit Lakes and attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park. He was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing, attending auctions, garage sales and playing bingo. Spending time with friends and family was high on his list of pleasures.
