Samuel Creveling, Sr. was the 12th. child of Johannes and Eva (Loecher) Creveling, Sr. Samuel Creveling, Sr. married Mary (Seas) "Fanny" Thompson on May 25, 1781. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Joseph Treat. Mary Thompson Creveling was born on Dec 18 1761 and died on Sep 18, 1831. They had nine children. Samuel Creveling, Sr. (1760-1822) was a Revolutionary War veteran and a militia member of Rev. John Rosbrugh's unit. Rev. Rosbrugh was the Clerical Martyr of the Revolutionary War. Samuel's son John Creveling (1794-1865), served during the War of 1812. Samuel's grandson, Lt. Colonel Joseph H. Bodine (1837-1889), served as an officer during the Civil War.
