Mrs. Susan M. Chesley, 88, widow of John E. Chesley, died last Thursday afternoon at the home of her son, Fred J. Chesley, 257 Main Street after suffering a shock that morning.
A native of Waterboro, daughter of Rice and Nancy C. Smith, she had resided in Sanford since 1896. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Springvale, the Estes Class of the Sanford Baptist Church, and the Wm. F. Reed Relief Corps.
She is survived by three sons, Albion S. of Portland, Burton E. of Mechanicsville, NY, and Fred J. of Sanford; and two grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Hurd Funeral Home, Winter Street, Sanford. The Rev. Howard M. Starratt of Sanford Baptist Church officiated.
Interment was in the family lot in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterboro.
