ALEX P. CHANNEL

A memorial service for Alex P. Channel of Forest Grove will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the home of a daughter at 1706 Main St., Forest Grove. Mr. Channel died of causes related to age Saturday in a Forest Grove care center. He was 89.

Mr. Channel was born on May 4, 1904, in Cushion, Texas, and was raised in Oklahoma. He had lived in Forest Grove for 50 years.

He was a construction worker for Southern Pacific for several years and also for Carnation Lumber Co. He also owned and operated a small lumber company.

Mr. Channel was a member of the Forest Grove Elks 2440 and the Isaak Walton League.

In 1944 in Portland, he married Albertina Steelhammer. She died in 1969.

Survivors include his daughters, Ila Boyd of Albany and Aline Moore of Forest Grove; sisters, Mary Jones and Viola Straub, both of Fresno, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Kidney Association of Oregon.

Internment will be at a later date.
