from Find A Grave contributor lcbb: "Jeremiah S. Beebe settled in Ithaca in 1817, as agent for Stephen B. Munn, of New York City, a large land owner on the Watkins & Flint purchase, including thousands of acres in what is now Newfield. Mr. Beebe purchased a store of goods and for years carried on a vigorous and successful trade at what was termed "the west end". Mr. Beebe was later connected with the milling and manufacturing industries, and owned a hotel. In 1840 he served as an Town Supervisor for Ithaca."

DIED.

In this village, on the 1st Feb. inst., of congestion of the lungs, Jeremiah S. Beebe, in the 71st year of his age. Mr. B. was for many years one of the most prosperous, enterprising and public spirited merchants of Ithaca. He had resided here since 1820. His funeral was attended by a large concourse of citizens.
