Mrs. Cleora Mae Chrismond of Lepanto, AR, retired schoolteacher of Mississippi and Poinsett County schools died Aug 27, 1961 in the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., after a long illness. She was 69.

Burial was in the Garden Point Cemetery.

Mrs Chrismond had taught in the Etowah School District at Hatcher, Etowah and West Ridge for more than 30 years and for several years in the Lepanto Elementary School.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Lepanto Eastern Star Chapter and she had held memberships in the Mississippi and Poinsett County Schoolteachers Association.

Mrs. Chrismond was born in Eudora, MS, and moved with her late husband, John Chrismond to the West Ridge community where they owned land in 1923.

Mrs. Chrismond leaves a daughter, Mrs. Frances Eula Clay of Osceola, three brothers: J.O. Shelton of Osceola, AR, WD Shelton of Payneway, AR, and Lloyd C. Shelton of the area; two sisters: Mrs. Eunice Wallace of Lepanto, AR, Mrs. C.H. Moore of Marked Tree, AR, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

NOTE: Other information sent to me BY: Shelton M. Woods

Birth: in Webster Co., MS. I'd have to look at the U S State and County book to find out if the County lines changed, but Desoto County is so far North to the top of the state, so I'm confused.

Aunt Cleora's first husband was Eula Dodd.
Marriage Record in Montgomery Co., MS Book 10 - page 426
Francis Dodd was his daughter, their only child.
Eula Dodd died in 1918.

In appreciation to Sandra for her time in creating this memorial, and for transferring it into our care.
