Elma Mae was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Beaver, to Anton and Josephine Klug Reif. She was raised in the Beaver area, graduating from Beaver High School. She was united in marriage to her husband of 69 years, Urban J. Hess. Elma was a devoted homemaker and wife.
Mrs. Hess was also a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society. Elma was a member of the National Association for Family & Community Education for more than 50 years.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Alfreda Hess of Fredonia, and by 20 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her brothers, Alfred and James Reif, and by a sister, Leona Rube.
