OREGON CITY – A memorial service will be March 13 for Lance Gregory Baker of Beavercreek, who died March 3 of cancer. Baker, formerly of Junction City, was 39.
He was born Jan. 31, 1955 in Roseburg to parents Melvin and Marion Baker. At age 11, his family moved to Junction City.
He graduated from Junction City High School in 1973 and earned his bachelor's degree from Oregon State University in 1977. He earned a degree in architecture from the University of Idaho at Moscow in 1980.
He married high school classmate Joy Hunt on Aug. 19, 1978, in Eugene. He and his wife founded LGB Landscaping based first in Gladstone and now in Beavercreek. They became active members of Oregon City Evangelical Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three sons, Dustin, Derek and Tyson, all of Beavercreek; as sister, Cheryl Rafoth of Beaverton; a brother, Bryan of Philomath; and his grandmother, Edna Sutton of Eugene.
He loved the Lord, his family and his work. He taught Sunday school and coached youth basketball in Gladstone and Oregon City. His family describes him as an honest and hardworking businessman, a creative landscape contractor and a loyal friend.
Sunday's memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Oregon City Evangelical Church, 1204 Linn Ave., Oregon City.
