Clara B. Paula, of St. Augustine, died May 1, 2004, at St. Augustine Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native of Blacksville, S.C., and had resided here for more than 50 years. She was a retired senior clerk for both Duval and St. Johns counties, respectively, after 30 years of service. She was a member of Electa Chapter No. 4.O.E.S., the Choir Guild, and chairperson for various church functions.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Officiating: The Rev. Dr. David Weidner. Calling hours: 5-8 p.m. Monday at St. Cyprian Episcopal Church. Burial: St. Augustine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors: Her children, Carlottra Guyton-Slaton, Jacksonville; Lerried Paula, Miami; Berry Paula, Tamarac, and DeRonda Paula-Williams, St. Augustine; two brothers, Willie Irvin, Washington, D.C., and Bernard Irvin, Ormond Beach; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends, and one deceased brother, David Batie.
